Help us find missing Edgewood newspapers

The Edgewood Museum has a continuing project to locate and digitize all existing Edgewood newspapers from the past and make those available in an on-line, searchable database, free to anyone wanting to search or browse them. These old newspapers hold much of the history of the community that can be found nowhere else.

The database which includes the Edgewood papers can be searched at http://claytoncounty.advantage-preservation.com . Contact the Museum if you need assistance searching the papers. We’re glad to help.

The Edgewood Journal was published from some time in the 1890s through 1930 when it merged with the Strawberry Point Press to form the Clayton County Press-Journal. For the next 20 years, Edgewood news appeared in a section of the Press-Journal called “The Edgewood Department”.

Edgewood Journal June 6, 1902

We have some Edgewood Journals and some Edgewood Departments scattered through the years, along with a couple of short-lived Edgewood papers such as the “Edgewood News” and “Edgewood Advertiser”. Great gaps of Edgewood news are missing that would be filled in by locating some of these old papers. We would appreciate receiving any Edgewood-related newspaper printed prior to 1953 when the “Edgewood Reminder” was established. Please be on the lookout for them. The papers can be in any condition and need not be complete issues. Scraps and clippings often contain valuable history content.

We have a fairly complete collection of Edgewood Reminders from its first issue in July 1953 through 2016. We are missing 58 issues as listed below. Please check out that box of old Reminders in your attic to see if you can help fill the gaps. If you don’t have the time to sort through your stack of Reminders, we will be glad to do it for you.  Thank you!

The following Edgewood Reminders are missing from the collection or damaged.
